Austria accounted for just 2.24% of all Schengen visa applications filed in 2024, handling 262,017 requests — yet generated over €22.2 million from visa fees. According to SchengenVisaInfo, Austria ranked 8th in terms of total applications received among Schengen states.

86% approval rate — but rejections concentrated in specific nationalities


Austria approved 224,747 applications (86%), while 35,817 applications (14%) were rejected.
