Slovakia Construction Output Growth Accelerates

Slovakia Construction Output Growth Accelerates

Slovakia’s construction sector ended 2025 on a strong note, with output rising sharply in December. Construction production increased by 11.7% year-on-year, up from 2.4% growth recorded in November, according to the latest data.

Year-on-year construction growth strengthens

The December reading marked a significant rebound, driven primarily by domestic construction activity. Output in the domestic market expanded by 10.4% compared with a 1.0% decline in November.

New construction posted a 10.2% increase after contracting by 2.3% a month earlier. Repairs and maintenance work continued to show resilience, growing 10.1% following 8.5% growth in November.

Building construction also returned to positive territory, rising 5.7% after a 3.5% decline in the previous month.

Engineering construction leads expansion

Engineering construction emerged as the strongest segment, with output surging 21.4% year-on-year compared with 0.6% growth in November. This sharp acceleration significantly contributed to overall sector performance.

Meanwhile, construction output abroad slowed to 23.5% from 30.5% in the previous month, partially offsetting the stronger domestic gains.

Seasonally adjusted monthly increase

On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, construction output increased by 4% in December, indicating short-term momentum toward the end of the year.

As experts at International Investment note, the acceleration in Slovakia’s construction output reflects strengthening domestic demand and infrastructure-related activity. However, the sustainability of this growth will depend on investment flows, financing conditions and broader macroeconomic stability in 2026.
