Georgian Disneyland: a new amusement park in Tbilisi
A unique tourist attraction will appear near Tbilisi Sea
The capital of Georgia is preparing to build a large amusement park, already being called the “Georgian Disneyland.” The project, featuring rides, family recreation areas, and educational spaces, will become a new center of tourism in the region, attracting both local residents and visitors from other countries. The park is planned near Tbilisi Sea.
Memorandum of cooperation and participation of Cartu Foundation
The Mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze, representatives of the Cartu Charitable Foundation, and the British consulting company Leisure Development Partners (LDP) signed a trilateral memorandum on the development of a recreational area near Tbilisi Sea. The document defines the main directions of work: a feasibility study and the development of the park’s concept.
The main private partner of the project is Cartu Foundation, established by the family of former Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili. The foundation provides financing and organizational support for construction. Kakha Kaladze emphasized that the Ivanishvili family and Cartu will cover a significant part of the expenses.
The foundation already has successful experience implementing large-scale infrastructure projects in Georgia: building schools, a university in Kutaisi, and the restoration of the Tskaltubo resort, making it a reliable partner for the city. Collaboration with international experts and the city administration allows combining private initiative with a professional project approach.
Scale and concept of the amusement park in Georgia
The themed park near Tbilisi Sea will be the first Disneyland-like park in the South Caucasus region. It will feature several thematic zones: a children’s zone with safe rides for the youngest visitors, a family zone for parents and children to relax together, and an extreme zone with thrilling attractions for adrenaline seekers. The park will also have cafes, restaurants, and event spaces. The Mayor of Tbilisi stressed that the project is planned as a world-class complex with attention to visitor safety and comfort. Currently, parents in the capital do not have the opportunity to take their children to a modern amusement park.
The rides are planned to be harmoniously integrated into the natural environment so that the park fits organically into the landscape without disrupting the ecological balance. According to the developers, this will create a unique space where modern entertainment combines with nature-based recreation.
Project implementation stages in Tbilisi
The British consulting company Leisure Development Partners (LDP) has already begun developing the pre-project documentation. The work is divided into two consecutive stages: first, specialists will conduct a feasibility study and assess the efficiency of the future complex; then, based on it, they will create a conceptual design project.
Kakha Kaladze noted that Georgia currently lacks sufficient experience in implementing projects of this scale, so support from leading international experts is critically important. Only after completing the full cycle of work by LDP will detailed design and construction preparation begin.
The exact timeline for implementation has not yet been announced, but the project is already considered one of the most significant cultural and entertainment facilities to appear in Georgia in the coming years.
Economic significance and tourism development in Georgia
Tourism in Georgia is already showing record numbers: in 2025, more than 5.5 million foreign tourists visited the country, and the total number of international visits reached 7.8 million, setting a historical record. These figures confirm the high attractiveness of the country for travelers and create a favorable background for large projects.
Analysts from International Investment note that the opening of the amusement park will become an important driver of tourist flow growth in Tbilisi, create new jobs, and contribute to the development of urban infrastructure — including hotels, restaurants, transport networks, and related facilities. The project will be a key element of the strategy for developing the area around the capital’s reservoir, forming a modern cluster with year-round attendance.
Moreover, the park will increase Georgia’s overall attractiveness by combining natural beauty, historical landmarks, and modern entertainment, strengthening the country’s image on the global tourism map.
