Croatia’s Tourism Revenue Grows in 2025

Foreign Tourists Generate Over €13.4 Billion

Croatia’s tourism sector maintained steady growth in 2025, with foreign visitors generating €13.411 billion in revenue during the first nine months of the year, according to the Croatian National Bank. This represents a 1.7% increase, or €223 million more, compared to the same period in 2024.

The Ministry of Tourism and Sport stated that the figures confirm the resilience and sustainability of Croatia’s tourism model amid evolving market conditions across Europe.

Slight Revenue Dip in the Third Quarter

Despite the overall increase, the third quarter recorded a modest decline. Revenue from foreign tourists between July and September totaled €9.037 billion, down 0.2% or €21 million year-on-year.

Officials noted that the slight contraction reflects seasonal travel patterns and underlines the importance of maintaining competitive pricing during periods of traditionally softer demand.

Record Overnight Stays and Strategic Focus on Quality

Tourism Minister Tonči Glavina highlighted that data from the Croatian National Bank and the eVisitor system confirm stable and sustainable sector growth. In 2025, Croatia surpassed 110 million tourist overnight stays for the first time in its history.

According to the minister, these results are the outcome of a long-term strategy centered on higher quality, increased added value, and more balanced year-round tourism development.

Strong Long-Term Performance Since 2016

Compared to 2016, tourism revenue in the first three quarters has increased by 83%, while third-quarter revenue alone has risen by 72%. The figures underscore Croatia’s structural shift toward a more value-driven tourism economy over the past decade.

The country continues to strengthen its position as one of Europe’s leading travel destinations, focusing on sustainability and competitiveness rather than purely volume growth.

Outlook for 2026

The 2025 data suggest that Croatia’s tourism sector remains resilient despite short-term seasonal fluctuations. Maintaining pricing discipline, diversifying source markets, and expanding off-season tourism will remain central to sustaining growth.

As reported by experts at International Investment, Croatia’s rising foreign tourism revenues alongside stable seasonal indicators demonstrate the country’s transition toward a mature, value-oriented tourism model that prioritizes long-term sustainability over short-term expansion.
