Tbilisi Ranks Among Google's Trendiest Travel Destinations for 2026
Tbilisi has emerged among the world's popular travel destinations alongside Chicago and Madeira in Google search results for the query "most trending destination of 2026." According to tourism industry representatives, this highlights the Georgian capital's cultural and gastronomic appeal.
"With the support of the Georgian National Tourism Administration, exhibitions are held annually across Europe and Asia. The promotion of Georgian tourism has played a major role in achieving this result. Today, our tourism industry holds a strong position internationally. Georgia's visibility has increased, and the country is attracting more visitors. This has a positive impact on both the overall economy and the private sector.
Tourism companies now have more opportunities to offer visitors interesting itineraries and introduce them not only to the capital but also to different regions of Georgia. This, in turn, encourages small businesses to develop new tourism products and increase their revenues. Our country continues to maintain its reputation as a safe destination, making travel and holidays here even more attractive," said Nato Kartvelishvili, founder of the travel company Dina Travel, commenting on the news.
This year, recognition of Tbilisi's tourism appeal has coincided with several major international events. In particular, the capital hosted the large-scale international forum Welcome Tbilisi 2026 on October 23–25. Held under the slogan "Ancient City, Modern Vision," the event brought together representatives from the tourism, investment, gastronomy, and film industries.
In addition, Georgia's leading tourism summit, Tourister 2026, will take place at the Expo Georgia exhibition center on November 24–25. The main topics will include the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and technology into the hospitality industry.
Traditional festivals remain particularly popular, especially Tbilisoba. In early October, the capital hosted Tbilisoba 2026, attracting thousands of local residents and international visitors.
Meanwhile, Tbilisi remains the most popular destination among international tourists visiting Georgia. Tours of the capital also continue to account for a significant share of the domestic tourism market.
