New Airlines and Routes in 2025
In March 2025, the UK’s flagship carrier British Airways will enter the Georgian market. Meanwhile, EasyJet will launch direct flights to London, Geneva, and Milan. Starting April 9, Transavia France will operate the Paris–Tbilisi–Paris route. On April 12, Edelweiss will begin operating twice-weekly flights between Zurich and Tbilisi.
According to Irakli Karkashadze, 10 agreements with airlines covering 13 new routes were signed in 2024. Negotiations with additional airlines are ongoing. “This means we expect even greater progress in 2025,” he emphasized.
Tourism Growth Driving Aviation Demand
The booming tourism industry in Georgia has significantly contributed to the increase in air traffic. In the fourth quarter of 2024, 1,098,890 international tourists visited Georgia, an 8.4% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
Total international tourist visits for 2024 reached 5,091,732, up 9% year-over-year.
Total traveler numbers of all types reached 7,368,149 (+4.2%).
Most visitors came from EU countries, the UK, the Gulf States, India, China, the US, and Israel.
Maya Omiadze, head of Georgia’s National Tourism Administration, noted that these are the highest figures in recent years. The trends are illustrated in the agency's data chart below.

“As we enter 2025, we aim to maintain this positive momentum,” Omiadze said. “The season for international exhibitions is approaching, and we plan to collaborate closely with private companies to showcase our offerings. We aim to build business relationships with international partners and launch targeted marketing campaigns in European countries and key markets.”
