Thailand has moved swiftly to strengthen security at its major international airports amid rising border tensions with Cambodia. The move follows renewed clashes along the Thai–Cambodian border earlier this month, raising concerns across both land and air entry points.

Immigration officials have reported increased scrutiny of passengers whose travel patterns deviate from typical tourism profiles. Entry refusals and visa tightening

Since the enhanced screening began, a number of foreign nationals have been denied entry. As of December 13, immigration officers had refused admission to 185 individuals who failed to meet the revised entry requirements. Thai authorities emphasized that these actions were taken strictly in the interest of national security. Travelers entering Thailand for business or other non-tourism purposes are now required to obtain appropriate visas in advance through Thai embassies or consulates.

Officials acknowledge that additional screening may lead to longer processing times at immigration checkpoints, particularly during peak travel hours. However, airports have increased staffing levels to manage passenger flow efficiently, with processing times expected to remain within approximately 45 minutes.
